If  a QA tester is in a meeting, writing some sort of doc (test plan, test cases, test outline, etc), helping other departments troubleshoot or fix devices, writing automation, writing test files, investigating issues (ie troubleshooting their own stuff), doing research (into use cases, other techologies that apply), etc… they aren’t necessarily testing.

 

People’s expectations are truly weird, esp if they aren’t QA testers….
