Firefox OS Automation Testday

December 14, 2012

The initial release of Firefox OS (B2G) is coming closer and it’s important for us to have as many as possible APIs and user interfaces tested. Therefore we are holding a testday with the purpose to help you to contribute automated tests for B2G! If your machine doesn’t meet the requirements or if you are not able to run the B2G emulator, you are also welcome to help us with WebRTC tests.

Here are a few things that you might learn on the day:

  • Forking/cloning a github repository
  • Setting up a Python virtual environment
  • Setting up the B2G emulator
  • Using Python virtual environments
  • Writing UI tests using Python and Marionette
  • Writing API tests using JavaScript and Marionette
  • Writing Mochitests using JavaScript

Choose between writing tests for the user interface, exploring the new underlying APIs, or the real time communication features. Due to the very technical nature of this testday, we’re encouraging attendees to prepare their systems ahead of the event. You will find all the instructions you need onĀ this etherpad, however you can also drop into #testday on IRC on the days leading up to the event if you need help or have any questions. Moderators will be available on IRC throughout the day to provide guidelines for you and answer your questions. Join us and help to make sure Firefox OS rocks the mobile world!
