SUMMARY:Discover and Help Test WebRTC in Firefox for Android and Firefox on Desktop on Friday June 21st\, 2013
DESCRIPTION:This upcoming Friday\, we would love for you to solicit your support towards testing and contributing to the process of qualifying a new developer-release version of Firefox for Android and Firefox on Desktop both on the Nightly channel as part of our rapid release testing cycle. We will be focusing on the process of discovering\, using and testing WebRTC. \nWebRTC is a free\, open project that enables web browsers with Real-Time Communications (RTC) capabilities via simple Javascript APIs. The WebRTC components have been optimized to best serve this purpose. The WebRTC mission is to enable rich\, high quality\, RTC applications to be developed in the browser via simple Javascript APIs and HTML5. The WebRTC initiative is a project supported by Google\, Mozilla and Opera. \nThis QA event\, this Friday\, is open to all those interested: newcomers\, experienced testers\, developers\, and anyone interested in testing early builds of Firefox on the Nightly channel. \nWe would like for you to use the new version of Firefox on your Android phone and desktop or laptop machine\, and take a close look at the latest Nightly builds in order to assist us in identifying any noticeably major issues found with our WebRTC implementation\, and ensure that all feature functionality that is included in this upcoming release is on its way to a feature and testing complete state. \nTo cover the work throughout the whole day we have created an EtherPad test-plan. Please feel free to read and use it as a companion during the day’s event. There will be moderators at hand in the IRC channel: #testday\, to answer any questions you have. \nTogether with your help we want to make this event a success and ensure the high quality of WebRTC support in Firefox for all of our users world-wide. If you have time on Friday June 21st\, 2013\, please join us on IRC\, we will have Mozilla community and testers on hand to help answer any of your questions. \nYour testing and feedback is highly valuable\, and we hope to see you attend our test day event.

SUMMARY:Working for Mozilla in London
DESCRIPTION:Getting together with the colleagues you’ve been working together during the last years is always a great chance to strengthen the team collaboration\, do some focused work and leverage the future plans\, all in a context that is open and productive in the same time. Mozilla work weeks are for sure the events that bring all of these together and even more than that. \nI can definitely vouch for that after having the chance to participate at the March London Firefox for Android work week as a member of the SoftVision Mozilla team. Adrian Tamas and myself were invited to participate there to talk about our team plans for the this year\, all these in the very welcoming Mozilla London office which I believe expresses some of the Mozilla culture. \nAdrian is one of the guys in the Firefox for Android who’s been spending quite some time on the mobile automation side (using Robocop) and the results are pretty encouraging\, so getting to talk specifically about this with the entire team was really important in order to get on the same page on the results so far\, our challenges\, the future plans and also some of the limitations we are facing. All very good discussions which obviously started already to show results. \nMore than this we’ve seen some great work being done on the product planning side through open discussions between the product management team\, the developers\, the QA engineers and some of the contributors\, all sharing the same overall vision – to get better and better in providing a seamless web browsing experience on mobile devices and…more than that everything to be open and accessible to everyone. While this is a quite fulfilling feeling for each IT engineer just to be part of setting the trends in the web browsing technologies it is also the Mozilla culture that makes a tremendous difference and motivates people to go beyond their known or unknown boundaries. \n \nI need to say that this was a great experience for us\, intense\, efficient and productive\, within a friendly and relaxed atmosphere – which I believe Mozilla is all about. For sure looking forward to be part of similar events in the future.

SUMMARY:Desktop and Android Web Apps Test Day - June 29th
DESCRIPTION:Hi Everyone\, \nOn June 29th\, the Desktop and Mobile QA teams will be hosting a test day for web apps integration into desktop and android and apps in the cloud for desktop to run MozTrap test cases against each feature\, exploratory test each feature\, verify fixed bugs\, and build new test cases for the feature. The necessity to complete these tasks is important\, as doing these tasks gives a clearer picture of what works and does not work\, what new problems exist\, and what new areas we can test we can test in these features. In completing these tasks\, our team will then be able to better assess the health of this feature\, since more problems with the feature will be identified to each driver of each feature. \nWhat is the Web Apps project? An excellent quote from our MDN documentation here summarizes what this project is: \n“The Open Web Apps project enables developers to create rich HTML5 app experiences that run across multiple devices and form factors  (desktop\, mobile\, tablet\, etc.) using Web standards and open technologies such as HTML5\, CSS and JavaScript. ” \nInterested in this product and helping out? Then\, you should join us on IRC on #testday. Upon helping out\, you’ll gain great experience in finding bugs\, running test cases\, and more! \nEveryone is welcome to participate. There’s no experience required. We’ll have moderators to answer any questions and guide you throughout the day. \nIf you want to get a head start check the test plan. Details will be posted there as they materialize. \nIf you aren’t available to help on Friday\, email me or contact me (jsmith) on IRC on #qa. \nThanks in advance!

To help we need you to install Firefox mobile on your device and stop by our Test day this Friday. For detailed information about how to get started testing please read our test plan. \nIf the Etherpad says that there are over 16 people using it you can find a copy of the test plan on the Mozilla Wiki.
