Testing Thunderbird 3.0 beta 4

Friday September 11, 2009 @ 7:29 - Ludovic

Thunderbird 3.0 B4 is approaching release time. To make sure that we release a great beta we are going to run a Basic Functional Test suite. This is a set of tests that will ensure that the product as a quality level acceptable to be released to a wider public. To do that we need some of our users to take a step forward a give us a bit of time - something between 20 minutes and an hour. That time will be spent testing the release candidate and make sure that it is defect free as can be.

This is what we're doing...

To get started with this you'll need to do a few things :

  • Create an account on litmus or make sure you have one
  • Create a account on bugzilla or make sure that you have one

Litmus is the software that we use to figure out what as been tested, when by whom on what os. This is the place where the test are stored. We will use a test_run in litmus to track our effort.

The new feature that the thunderbird team as been working are almost ready to be exposed to a wider audience. For that those new fetaure needs a bit testing. To do this we need people with a fresh perspective and that are willing to spend an hour or two using the features and giving the Thunderbird team some feedback and telling us what bugs we have left into those new features.

To gather bugs and feedback we are having a test day.

This is what we're doing...

The test days is a social event where you can "meet" other people like you that care about thunderbird and are also giving a bit of their free time to the project by testing.

The areas that needs testing are described at https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:QA_TestDay:2009-09-10 Please take the time to read that page and join us.
