Greetings Community Testers,
We will have a Testday this week for Places in Firefox 3.01, the upcoming stability release for Firefox 3.

What: Firefox 3.01 Places Testday
When:
Friday, June 27, 2008 from 10 AM - 5 PM PDT
Where:
IRC on irc.mozilla.org, channel #testday

How you can help

  1. Download the latest 3.01 nightly build at ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.9.0/
  2. Review the list below of things to test.
  3. Provide us with your feedback and any testing updates by leaving a comment on this event post! Or join us on irc.mozilla.org, channel #testday for immediate discussion.

Preparing for Test Day

  1. Save your profile data to another location! You should either back up your profile or use the profile manager to create a new profile for testing. You don't want to lose or damage your places data.
  2. Get the new Mozilla QA Companion extension. It's the easiest way to run test cases, search for bugs, and get connected on IRC to Mozilla community members.

Contributing to Test Day

  1. Join us in #testday on irc.mozilla.org so you can chat with the Mozilla QA team and community. There are always people in the channel to meet, work with, and get help from.
  2. Choose one or more of the following things to do:
    • Run testcases on Litmus! Ask for help in the #testday channel if you're not familiar with Litmus. If a testcase is terribly unclear, mark it as such so it can be fixed. When you have questions about using Litmus, please ask the moderators in the testday channel or see the Litmus tutorial.
      • If you are going to run testcases in Litmus, please use the "Firefox 3.0 Catch-All Test Run" as the choice on the first page after making an account. Once you select that, you can run "Basic Functional Tests (BFTs)" or "Full Functional Tests (FFTs)" fairly easily. Within those groups, any tests using Bookmarks or History will test the code for the "Places" feature area. The Location Bar area also touches on this.
    • Verify Fixed Bugs! We are in dire need of keeping up with the bug fixed rate. You can help by going through the bugs listed below and confirming if they truly are fixed or needs reopening. Firefox bugs are at http://tinyurl.com/46qoze
    • Exploratory Testing: You can explore the Places features and try working with different combinations of things in order to find bugs. Examples are:
