Greetings Testers!
It's time to revisit some General Testing in Firefox 3! Join us Friday, May 9, 2008 in #testday on IRC from 7am - 5pm PDT. Here is how you can help us:
1. Install either the latest nightly build from ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/nightly/latest-trunk/ (preferable), or install Firefox 3 beta 5.
2. Review the list below of things to test.
3. Provide us with your feedback and any testing updates by leaving a comment on this event post! It's the easiest way to collect information about this Test Day, so don't be afraid to say hello and tell us how your day went.
We are on the road to RC1, so there is plenty to test! One good way to cover some ground is to run the 3.0 Surf's Up - A Fun Smoketest in Litmus! Just select that radio button after you enter your system information and you will be off to the races with a great day of surfing.
Things you can test:
*Banking and Financial Sites
*Top sites (Testing that sites layout properly, no content missing, etc)
*Social Networking sites (Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn)
*Top News Sites
*Online retail sites
How to prepare for Test Day:
* Save your profile data! You should either back up your profile or use the profile manager to create a new profile for testing.
* Get the new Mozilla QA Companion! It's the easiest way to run test cases, search for bugs, and get connected on IRC... so it's the perfect tool for Test Days!
Getting started on Test Day:
First join us in #testday on irc.mozilla.org so you can chat with the Mozilla QA team and community. There are always people in the channel to meet, work with, and get help from.
Then choose one or more of the following things to do:
* Run various test cases on Litmus! Ask for help in the
#testday channel if you're not familiar with Litmus. If a testcase is
terribly unclear, mark it as such. When you have questions about using
Litmus, please ask the moderators in the testday channel or see the Litmus tutorial .
* When you have time and interest in writing testcases, please ping Marcia and/or Tomcat in the #testday channel. We have also a short documentation on how to write testcases for litmus.
