Hello Thunderbird Enthusiasts.

*Join us Thursday, May 8 to test Thunderbird version 3 alpha 1*
(Available in daytime and evening hours. Extends into Friday for Asia)

We invite the user and volunteer community to participate in the first test day of Thunderbird version 3 alpha 1. The objectives of this test day are:

* A call to arms to users interested in helping us get to Thunderbird version 3
* To develop a set of testers of increasing number and skill for future test work
* To expose more users to new features in Thunderbird 3
* To stress alpha 1 code and identify new bugs
* To evaluate Thunderbird test day processes and documents

On Test Day, join us in #testday so you can meet other testers and get help. Then choose one or more of the following ways to contribute:

* Run Thunderbird Trunk litmus tests. Ask for help in the #testday channel if you're not familiar with Litmus. If a testcase is unclear, mark it as such. See also the Litmus tutorial.
* Exercise your favorite (or least favorite) Thunderbird functions and provide feedback. Example areas to test: account setup, large scale POP and imap downloads, filters, junk mail processing
* Try new capabilities of Thunderbird 3
* Test various reported crashers, hangs, and other problems, and update the respective bugs
* Test Thunderbird on multiple operating systems, if you have multiple OS
* File bugs for new problems that you encounter

Where to get help: #testday on mozilla IRC

When and how: Schedule and simple steps to participate.

NOTES:
* Caution: Version 3 alpha 1 is not a release candidate - it is early development level code (essentially trunk code) that has not be subjected to extensive quality tests. Many people are successfully using it on a daily basis without major problems or dataloss. However, use at your own risk and protect your data with appropriate backups.
* Version 3.0a1 is not anywhere near feature complete. See http://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird:Home for details and planning information about the future of Thunderbird.

We hope you join us in #testday!
