The MozQA community is holding a Testday on Friday, August 21st, for users interested in the use, development and/or testing of Fennec! We're going to have jmaher, the lead tester for Fennec available to help users test the new project, learn how to report out the results of the tests and just generally chat about the project with the community via IRC Chat (channel #testday on irc://irc.mozilla.org). So, if you're interested, come on by anytime between 7AM to 5PM PDT that Friday!

How do I get ready?

1. Download Fennec:

2. Learn more about Fennec here

This is what we're doing...

Join the MozQA Community in testing Fennec 1.0 beta!
==============================================================
Fennec just released a beta3 and we need your help to make sure it works as good as Firefox.
This test day is used to browse the web with Fennec and give feedback. We have a test plan outlining some browsing suggestions and guidelines of what to look for: Fennec WebCompatibility If you've never heard of Fennec, information on it can be found here.

Otherwise, we hope to see you there!
==============================================================

Here's some of the things we're planning on doing throughout the day:

  • Test Fennec by browsing various websites that you do on a daily basis
  • Help us verify resolved bugs here
  • Run the Smoketest on Litmus' Fennec 1.0 Test Run
  • Use the brand new interface and give feedback on what works and how usable it is
  • Learn about ways to help out in future releases
  • Tell the Fennec team what you think about your experience.
  • For any bugs filed at this testday, add "[fennecb3testday]" to the bug's whiteboard. If you're unsure what that means, ask a moderator in the channel.

Unfortunately...

We don't have a solaris build available at this time, but hopefully we can see you at the fennec testday anyways!

Fennec requires a lot of memory right now

Tigeryoshi, thanks for your feedback.
Currently we are requiring 128MB of RAM on your system to run Fennec.  There are patches in test now to reduce the startup time and page load time for Windows Mobile.  This will help speed up the experience on lower end device and will work towards reducing our overall required memory.
Look for the Windows Mobile Alpha3 release next week
